Get crafty this Father's Day (or for a mechanic Mum) with this fab toolbox card, which you can fill with a hammer, screwdriver and saw! This card is perfect for DIY lovers and is so easy to create, using our handy template, which you can find below.

Craft the toolbox from your recipient's favourite colours, then add metal brads for a realistic-looking finishing touch.

Shopping List:

Your basic card making kit, plus

Blue, cream, red and white card
Red textured card
Toolbox card template (see below)
Small circle punches
Blue fineliner pens

Toolbox card template

Step 1

Cover your folded card blank with red card. Use the template to cut the whole card into a toolbox shape, then open out the card and cut the aperture in the card front.

Step 2

Add red textured card to the corners and handle of the toolbox shape. Add three punched circles of cream card to each corner to look like rivets.

Step 3

Use your template to paper piece the hammer, screwdriver and saw shapes. Doodle around the edges of the shapes then add them to your card, fixed in place behind the shaped aperture. You can support the tool shapes with sticky foam pads where they overlap the edges of the aperture.

Step 4

Cut a panel of white card and add squares of blue card with your ‘DIY’ message. Punch four circles of blue card, draw a blue line across the centre of each one and add one to each corner of your message panel.

Step 5

Add a piece of blue card to your card front at a quirky angle, then layer your message panel on top using sticky foam pads.
