Our Christmas pudding hat knitting pattern is bound to be a festive hit with the whole family. It’ll look adorable on your little pudding – or make it for parents and kids to match! The pattern was designed by Kirstie McLeod and comes from Simply Knitting magazine issue 100.

The hat uses a yarn that comes embedded with sequins, so there’s no fiddly stitching to do. Plus it's worked flat and seamed, perfect for new knitters who haven't yet mastered knitting in the round.

You'll need small amounts of red and green yarn from your stash to knit the holly, or why not sew on a few mini pompoms to make the berries? Whatever you decide, it'll give your Christmas pudding hat the perfect finishing touch.

To make this Christmas pudding hat you will need:

  • Yarn A King Cole, Moorland Aran (75% arcylic, 25% wool, 100g/196m), 1 ball of Earthy (376)
  • Yarn B King Cole, Galaxy Chunky (56% arcylic, 42% wool, 2% payette, 50g/71m), 1 ball of Saturn (684) These yarns have been discontinued, but you could substitute King Cole Fashion Aran, and King Cole Galaxy DK held double, checking your tension to ensure it matches.
  • Oddments of green and red DK yarn
  • A pair of 4mm (US 6) needles
  • A pair of 5mm (US 8) needles
  • Stitch markers
