Rhian Drinkwater’s mittens are decorated with a gorgeous snowflake pattern. These ones are in a wintery heather hue, but of course you can use any colour. Choose one lighter shade and one darker for plenty of contrast so your snowflakes really stand out.

These mittens would make a great gift, and knit up quickly. We knitted ours in an alpaca and wool blend, to make them warm and cosy – and they're sized to fit hands approx 23cm long and 21cm around, though they'll stretch to fit.

You will need:

Twilleys of Stamford, Mist (45% dralon, 35% alpaca, 20% wool, 50g/130m)

1 ball of each: Plum (1004), Lilac (1002)

A long 3¾mm circular knitting needle
