The Great British Bake Off returned to our screens last night for its sixteenth series! It was great meeting this year's cohort of talented bakers and and we can't wait to watch them whip up incredible bakes each week in their bid for the prestigious title of "Star Baker".

We also saw some familiar faces, including hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, who are back again to provide plenty of laughs, as well as beloved judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

  • She was born in Cape Town, South Africa and has dual citizenship for South African and the U.K.
  • She attended the Cordon Bleu Cookery School in London.
  • In 2021, she was made a Dame in the Queen's Honours list.
  • She has an eyewear collection called Specs by Prue, which she created in collaboration with MAC and PURE Eyewear.
  • She has written eight novels (in addition to her cookbooks).
  • She has two Cavalier King Charles spaniels, called Tattie and Teasel.
  • She was born on 18th February 1940 and is 85 years old.
  • She founded Leiths School of Food and Wine in 1975, which continues to offer cookery courses and remains a well-respected institution today.
  • Her restaurant Leith's, which she opened in 1969, received a Michelin Star.
  • She has over 10 honorary degrees.
