Contestant wins The Great British Sewing Bee 2025 with a touching tribute to the NHS

Last night, three contestants battled it out to be crowned Britain's best amateur sewer. After the nation's shock at Kit leaving the Sewing Bee last week, it was Caz (59, Staffordshire), Orla (19, Inverness), and Yasmin (30, Gateshead) competing for the title.

The three contestants were tasked with creating complex trompe l'oeil outfits that would wow the judges and clinch them the crown. Orla created an incredible dress celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and Yasmin made a gorgeous orange illusion dress in honour of her dad.

However, it was Caz's golden ribcage dress which stole the hearts of the judges and the nation. After experiencing open heart surgery four years ago, Caz dedicated her dress to the amazing surgeons and staff who cared for her during that time.

'This is to say thankyou to all the staff at Stoke University Hospital'

– Caz, winner of The Great British Sewing Bee 2025

Modelled by her daughter, her dress featured a structured ribcage with a zip down the centre, symbolising the surgery she went through. The dress won her the title of this year's Sewing Bee champion, with judge Patrick Grant praising her bravery in telling her story.

I'm really pleased for Caz, she made something that really had meaning.

The public also got behind Caz's emotional win. They took to the Sewing Bee Instagram, telling their own stories of the amazing service the NHS provides.

Amazing final and series. My hubby had life saving heart surgery aged 34, so we could really identify with Caz. Plus her personality shines through her sewing . Well done All x – @caravan225gill_ives

It was a close final but one filled with emotion, passion and of course, sewing! Tune in next year when Patrick and Esme will return to our screens alongside a new host BAFTA-winning comedian Sophie Willan!
