Jesse Hodgson

Jesse is a children’s book illustrator and author based in Bristol and she's inspired by nature and wildlife. Her latest book, Our Time On Earth, is published with Big Picture Press and is written by Lily Murray. It looks closely at animal lifespans and the precious time creatures great and small have on our planet. She mostly draws her books using colouring pencils, but she also loves sketching in inks and watercolour. Her picture books engage children with the subjects of loneliness and friendship, loss, deforestation and the environment. Jesse's first book, ‘Pongo', published with Flying Eye Books, was awarded 'Highly Commended' in the Macmillan Children's Book Prize 2012, while her book, ‘Pip and the Bamboo Path’, also with Flying Eye, was recognised at Beijing International Book Festival. Her illustrations for ‘Tiger Walk’, written by Dianne Hofmeyr, were nominated for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal 2020. Instagram: @jessehodgsonillustration
