8 kitchen color ideas that we predict will be big for 2026
1. Refreshing teal

Teal is already generating buzz for 2026, and we think it’s a bold yet sophisticated choice for the kitchen. One standout shade is Transformative Teal by WGSN, predicted to make waves across interiors, fashion, and beauty. WGSN describes it as: “A fluid fusion of blue and aquatic green that reflects the diversity of nature and taps into an earth-first mindset.”

2. Warm browns

Pantone declared ‘Mocha Mousse’ ‘Color of the Year’ for 2025, and we can see the hype continuing into next year. Brown might not be your first choice for the kitchen, but don’t underestimate the warmth and charm of this rich, grounding color.

3. Butter yellow

Butter yellow is also getting a lot of attention, with many predicting it will be a standout shade for 2026. Molly Woodward-Moor, interior designer and creative director at Stone Superstore, says: “We’re seeing a strong shift toward soft, muted color palettes, with butter yellow being the standout shade of the year.
“This gentle shade fits seamlessly into the 90’s aesthetic, bringing with it a comforting and nostalgic charm that evokes the warmth and familiarity of vintage interiors, while still feeling fresh and modern.”

4. Matcha green

Green is always a popular color for the kitchen thanks to its natural, calming feel. Sage green has been a staple in homes across the year, but there's a new kid on the block: matcha green.
According to UK-based B Corp paint brand YesColours, green paint sales have surged by 150.4% over the last six months, with a distinct shift toward matcha-toned, chalky shades - softer than olive, lighter than sage.
Matcha Green, particularly in its chalky, misted matcha-toned expressions, offers a visual detox for our overstimulated spaces and overstretched minds. “When we look at the psychology behind green, it supports peace and emotional regulation. That’s why we’re seeing it embraced so deeply”, explains Emma Bestley, Co-Founder & Creative Director at YesColours.
5. Sunny yellows

Dulux’s ‘Color of the Year’ was ‘True Joy’, and like its name, it’s a vibrant and bold color. Yellow can be a daring choice in the kitchen, but when used thoughtfully, it brings an uplifting energy that really pays off.

6. Calming blues

Blue is a timeless choice for kitchens, working beautifully across the palette, from rich navy to delicate duck egg. Its versatility means it pairs effortlessly with a range of tones, even unexpected ones like blush pink, as shown in this B&Q kitchen featuring the shade Alisma Azzurro Blue.
One shade that's gaining particular attention is powder blue. This soft pastel is being embraced for its serene, soothing qualities, an ideal match for the growing wellness trend in interiors. “Homeowners are seeking tranquillity in their homes, especially in times of uncertainty,” says Mohammed Bharucha, founder of Doorfinder. “Powder blue fits into this desire for a calming atmosphere. It reflects light beautifully, making smaller kitchens feel larger, while still bringing a touch of elegance without overwhelming the space.”

7. Bold black

It might seem daunting to choose a dark color for your kitchen, but it’s actually a very smart choice because it won’t go out of style. “Black is a color that stands the test of time,” says Mohammed. “It provides a bold yet refined base for your kitchen. It’s chic, versatile, and pairs well with everything from natural wood accents to marble countertops.”

8. Subtle neutrals

White, cream, grey and beige colors will never go out of style. These subtle colors can help you create a soft minimalist style or be the backdrop for brighter pops of color.
They’re also a smart choice if you like to change things up. With a neutral base, you can refresh your kitchen simply by switching out furniture and accessories, without the need for a full redesign.
