Learning how to crochet baby shoes with this pattern will introduce you to some interesting techniques, such as creating the oval shape for the base and switching between continuous and joined rounds. But don’t worry, we’ve included some handy photos to help with those trickier parts.

If you're new to the world of crochet don't worry! We have a guide to crochet for beginners here on Gathered that will teach you all the tips and tricks you need to make these crochet shoes for babies.

How to crochet baby shoes

You will need

  • Robin Chunky yarn, 100% acrylic, 100g/140m per ball, or alternative chunky yarn. 1 ball each in:
    • Yarn A Russet (081)
    • Yarn B Oatmeal (035)
    • Yarn C Raven (044)
  • 5mm (UK 6, US H/8) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle

Note: only small quantities of Yarn B and C will be needed.

Tension

Tension is not important for this project – just ensure your stitches are suitably dense.

Notes

Rounds 1 and 2 are worked in a continuous spiral, rounds 3, 4 and 5 are completed rounds.

The basic crochet baby shoes are made first, then the individual eyes, nose, and ears are sewn to the booties.

Size

The booties are designed for ages 0 to 6 months, fitting tiny feet up to 10cm long.
