You will need:

  • A 4mm (US G/6) hook
  • 3 balls of Dk yarn in your choice of colour

Abbreviations

Dtr (double treble) - yrh hook twice, insert hook, yrh, pull through stitch (4 loops on hook), yrh, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), yrh, pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook), yrh, pull through remaining 2 loops on hook. You will need:

  • Crochet hook
  • Yarn

Making the mini heart

Step 1

Round 1 Chain 4, (3dtr, 3tr, ch1, 1dtr, ch1, 3tr, 3dtr) in the first chain, ch3, ss in same first chain as all previous stitches. Fasten off.

Round 2 Using new colour yarn, ss in the back loop of the stitch marked with the star in the picture above (this is actually the 3rd chain of your starting 4ch), ch3 (counts as a tr), (2tr, ch3, 3tr) in same space as ss, ch3, skip next 5 stitches, (3tr, ch3, 3tr) in back loop of next stitch, ch3, skip next 3 stitches (at the point of the heart), (3tr, ch3, 3tr) in back loop of next stitch, ch3, skip next 5 stitches, (3tr, ch3, 3tr) in back loop of next stitch, ch2, ss into top of beginning ch3 to join. Fasten off.

Step 2

Round 3 Working with next colour yarn, ss in any corner ch3-space, ch3 (counts as a tr), (2tr, ch3, 3tr) in same corner space, ch1, *4tr in next ch3-space, ch1, (3tr, 3ch, 3tr) in next ch3-corner space, ch1; Repeat from * 3 times, 4tr in next ch3-space, ch1, ss into top of starting ch3 to join. Fasten off.
