Get sewing for Christmas with the best Christmas fabrics in town this year – from fat quarters to fabric by the metre and fabric panels. We're here to reveal the must-sew collections from favourite brands Moda, Dashwood Studio, Lewis & Irene and Art Gallery fabrics

Ho ho ho makers, is it time to officially start sewing for the holidays yet? Christmas Fabrics are one of life's simple pleasures – from traditional colourways to the incredible modern fabric collections that the big fabric brands release each year, there are always new designs to discover. The best thing about them is you can use them to sew your new favourite family heirlooms. Last year I made Christmas stockings for my family and my first ever DIY quilt project was actually a Christmas quilt pattern – it's been 8 years since I made it but me and my children still snuggle up under each year to watch Elf.
Home-sewn Christmas projects will be a feature of your family's festivities year after year, and they make great gifts too for this reason. If you're trying to cut down on glitter and disposable gift wrap this year, why not swap out paper or plastic packaging by wrapping your gifts in Christmas fabric? We've got some great projects for you if you're in the mood for some merry making – head over to our guides to how to make a Christmas stocking, how to make a fabric advent calendar, or the best Christmas decorations to sew.
In this article, I'm sharing my favourite places to shop for Christmas fabric online. I've included Christmas quilting fabrics and fat quarters, alongside Christmas fabrics available by the metre. The fabrics in this round-up offer a wide variety of styles to suit all different budgets and tastes. You'll find high-end Liberty prints alongside some of the best bargains on Amazon – just pick your favourite and start sewing.
I've been slowly gathering together a section of my fabric stash especially for the occasion for years now. I've got all the classics covered – Holly and Ivy? Check. Funny Santa prints to make my kids smile? Check. Star print backing fabric with metallic finish? Check. I try and sew my stash each year but I still can't resist adding to it when I see cute fat quarters on my travels.
