Scheepjes Catona 4ply cotton (or alternative 4ply cotton)
1 ball of each: Tulip (222) and Sky Blue (510)

How to crochet a heart

For a large heart, follow the complete pattern from Rounds 1-5.

For a medium heart, follow rounds 1-4 only.

For a small heart, follow rounds 1-3 only.

Round 1 Ch2, 5dc in 2nd ch from hook. [5sts]

Round 2 Ch1, 2dc in each st to end of round, ss to ch at beg of round to join. [10sts]

Round 3 Ch2 (counts as htr), tr into st at base of ch, (2tr, 1htr) in next st, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st, (1htr, 1tr, 1htr) in next st, 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st, (1htr, 2tr) in next st, (1tr, 1htr) in next st, ss in last st of round (centre st of heart). [20sts]

Round 4 Dc into top of ch-2 (counts as htr from previous round), 2htr in next st, 2tr in next st, 2htr in next st, 1dc in each of the next 5 sts, (1htr, 1tr) in next st, (1htr, 1dc) in next st, 1dc in each of the next 4 sts, 2htr in next st, 2tr in next st, 2htr in next st, 1dc in next st, ss in last st of round. [28sts]

Round 5 Ss into the first dc of the previous round, 1dc in next st, 2dc in each of the next 4 sts, 1dc in each of the next 7 sts, (1htr, 1tr, 1htr) in next st, 1dc in each of the next 7 sts, 2dc in each of the next 4 sts, 1dc in next st, ss in next st.

Note If adding a chain for hanging, ss into the next st which is the centre st, and make a chain from there.

Fasten off and weave in ends

Making a crochet heart into a bookmark

Using a 3mm hook, make 2 medium hearts with sky blue and 3 medium hearts with Tulip. Overlap the hearts slightly and arrange them with alternating colours, then stitch together.

Sew a length of ribbon to the reverse with tiny slip stitches.
