Everyone loves Santa! Now you can hook up some cosy winter accessories to pay homage to the big man himself with this delightful crochet Santa hat and mitts set, courtesy of Eleonora Tulley of Coastal Crochet.
This fantastic pattern can be crafted in sizes for adults and kids, so you’ll both be cosy and snug when queuing for Santa’s grotto or huddled around the tree.
For this pattern, Eleonora has used Scheepjes Chunky Monkey yarn, which is super soft and squishy We also recommend white trim, cuffs and pompom are all made with Scheepjes Softy yarn to give your projects a real fluffy festive finish.

How this free pattern is constructed
Parts of the pattern are worked in a continuous spiral without closing off each round with a slip stitch. You may find it helpful to mark the first stitch of the round, moving it up as you work.
The Mittens start by working the Cuff in short rows. The ends are joined together in a loop, and the main body is then worked on the side of this loop in rounds. A space is left for the Thumb, which is worked at the end.
The Hat is worked from the Rib up.
Technical details about this pattern
This pattern has been designed in both child and adult sizes. The child size is written first, with the adult size following in pink in the brackets after.
This crochet pattern is written in UK terminology, but if you’re unsure of any of the stitch names or are used to US patterns, you can find a full list of helpful information in our abbreviations and conversions guide.
We would advise checking your tension before starting this project. 11 sts and 13 rows should measure 10x10cm (4x4in) when working double crochet stitches using Yarn B and a 6mm hook.
