Whether you're using them to hold your pens, pencils, scissors or crochet hooks - this quick pattern is a great way to turn a boring old jam jar or a glass into a fab crochet storage pot. We've included instruction for the 3 different colour combinations, so you can make a whole range of them to decorate your desk!

You will need

  • Phildar, Phil Coton 3 (100% cotton, 50g/121m), 1 ball of each: Vitamine (0006), Ciel (0003), Jade (0058), Elephant (0066)
  • A 3mm (US C/2 or D/3) hook

Measurements

Each cosy measures 11x7cm (4¼x2¾in), folded flat

Abbreviations

Ttr2tog (Yrh 3 times, insert hook in next st, yrh and pull up loop, [yrh and draw through 2 loops] 3 times) twice, yrh and draw through all loops on hook.

Wedge Picot stitch (WP) Ch6, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1htr into next chain, 1tr into next ch, 1dtr into next ch, 1ttr into next ch.

Work using shades of your choice, or follow our colour combinations below.

COSY 1 COLOURS

Work ch and Row 1 in Vitamine. Row 2 in Ciel. Row 3 in Vitamine. Repeat Row 2 in Ciel. Repeat Row 3 in Vitamine. Repeat Row 2 in Ciel.

COSY 2 COLOURS

Work ch and Row 1 in Elephant. Rows 2 & 3 in Jade. Repeat Rows 2 & 3 in Jade. Repeat Row 2 in Elephant.

COSY 3 COLOURS

Work ch, Row 1 and Row 2 in Elephant. Row 3 in Jade. Repeat Row 2 in Vitamine. Repeat Rows 3 and 2 in Elephant.

PEN POT COSY

Ch50.

Row 1 (WS) 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, (1WP, skip 5 ch, 1dc into next ch) repeat to end of row, turn. [8 WP, 9 dc]

Row 2 Ch5 (counts as ttr), *1dc into top of WP, over next 5 ch (working into the back of the chains along the underside of WP) work 1dc into next ch, 1htr into next ch, 1tr into next ch, 1dtr into next ch, 1ttr into next ch, skip next dc; repeat from * to end of row omitting the final ttr stitch and working ttr2tog over last 2 stitches, turn.

Row 3 Ch1 (does not count as st), 1dc into first st, *1WP, skip next 5 sts, 1dc into next st; rep from * to end of row, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 once more and Row 2 again.

Fasten off. Sew the short ends together to form a tube.
