Dreaming of summer barbeques, birthday parties or get-togethers? Inject some tropical warmth into your occasion with this simple, sparkly garland! With its mix of glittering leaves and hot-pink paper flowers, this quick design looks great when strung across a wall, hanging above a doorway or used as a table decoration.

Copy the tropical garland templates  to  create the garland, and follow our simple step-by-step guide to make the flowers from tissue paper. Attaching all the elements to rustic jute twine helps to balance the vibrancy of the leaves and flowers, while keeping a natural look.

If you don’t have any glitter card to hand, you can always use plain, coloured card then decorate with glitter or embossing powders. For an extra touch of tropical opulence, try dipping the ends of each leaf in metallic embossing powder then melting it with a heat tool.

The trendy tropical charm of this garland is sure to bring the sunshine to any gathering and get everyone into the party spirit!

You Will Need

  • Glitter card
  • Craft wire
  • Tissue paper
  • Jute twine

Total time:

Step 1

Cut four 10x10cm pieces of tissue paper. Layer the four pieces together then create concertina folds at 1.5cm intervals. Wrap craft wire around the tissue paper and twist the ends.

Step 2

Round off the ends of the folded tissue paper, for a softer edge on your petals. If you’d prefer a spikier finish, cut the ends into triangular points, instead of rounding them.

Step 3

Fan out the folded tissue paper, starting from the outside edge, to create the 3D flower. Repeat on the other side. Trim the excess wire and attach the flower to the twine garland.
