If you're looking to add a sense of humour to your wedding favours – these wedding chickens are just the ticket! Wonderfully original, our papercraft chicks are sure to delight your guests – add a name tag and use them as a place setting for a two-for-one craft! We think this would be a great project to make with kids to get the little ones excited about the big day ahead! Also, there’s no end to giving these chickens personality – different coloured papers and wacky hairstyles give a unique style while a string of elegant pearls keeps this make wedding appropriate.

If you want to stick with tradition, fill the nest with sugared almonds. These chickens would work well for Easter, too – just swap the almonds for some mini chocolate eggs! Download our free funny wedding favours template to make your own wedding chickens!

You will need:

  • Patterned paper
  • Plain card
  • Mini pegs
  • Adhesive pearls

Step 1

To make a sweet wedding favour holder, cut a scallop shape from a piece of coloured card and then cut a circle from the centre of the scallop. Cut a second, smaller circle.

Nesting dies are ideal for this, but you could also use craft punches as a quick and easy alternative.

Step 2

Trim away six of the scallop curves by trimming them out of the circle. Overlap two of the scallops and attach together to form a round shape.

Step 3

Secure the scalloped nest shape to the larger circle using glue. Once attached, stick the smaller circle inside. Now it’s ready to fill with delicious treats!

Step 5

Punch four flower shapes in coordinating papers – these will form the chicken’s wings and tail.

Step 6

Cut away three of the petals on each flower so you’re left with a heart shape. Join two together for the tail and use the remaining two as wings.
