Craftiosity craft box subscription review

What is Craftiosity?

Craftisoity is a UK based craft subscription box brand that offers a range of beautiful and beginner-friendly crafts, each delivered to your door once a month. Well packaged and exciting to open, it's like giving yourself a well-deserved gift each month.

Craftiosity typical craft projects

A gorgeous macrame mirror, a quirky marbled candle holder and a brightly coloured needlepoint journal are just a few of the types of projects you can expect from Craftiosity. Each project is suitable for newbies, so you can even take on crafts you have never tried before because accompanying each project is a step-by-step guide (with photos) and even a video tutorial! What a bonus.

How much is Craftiosity?

It costs £24.95 a month plus free UK delivery, and you will receive one craft box per month. The great thing is you can also cancel anytime should you wish to!

Is Craftiosity good value for money?

Yes! 100%. The box we are reviewing contained high-quality materials, a lovely design and also free delivery (the box is quite large so we imagine the postage costs might be quite heavy!) - so those aspects combined I think they have made the box a very reasonable price!

What are the subscription terms?

If you subscribe the box will be delivered to you on the 7th of each month, so if you subscribe in January your first box will be delivered on 7th Feb and it takes around 3 days to arrive with you.

There is no commitment, you can cancel your subscription at any time. You can also buy one-off boxes, and skip a box in your subscription if you'd like to - so we can safely say Craftiosity is a very flexible company indeed!

Embroidered moon tea towel: What’s in the box?

In the embroidered moon tea towel box you will receive everything you need to complete the project! A cotton tea towel, four embroidery skeins, a needle, a hoop and the design template. The only other tools you will need to have in your stash is a sharp pair of scissors and a sharp pencil. Alongside the kit itself, there was a lovely greeting, some gorgeous postcards and the clear instruction leaflet, all wrapped in quirky pink tissue paper.

Are the projects supplies of good quality?

At the end of the project, I did have some leftover threads and I will be able to reuse the hoop for future projects. The only downside was I ran out of the dark grey embroidery thread, the thread that is used for the moon, I think this might be because in the instructions you are told to use all 6 strands rather than 2 strands, so it is used up more quickly. An extra dark grey thread wouldn't go amiss! Especially if you are a newbie to embroidery and may make a mistake or get your thread knotted, there isn't much room for a mistake. Everything else in the kit was spot on!

What are the delivery options?

As mentioned above all the craft boxes are posted out on the 7th of the month! As the boxes are too big to fit through the letter box they recommend you get them delivered somewhere there will be someone in to receive it, such as your workplace. It is delivered by Royal Mail though, so you can likely specify a safe place with them (we are not 100% sure on this though).

Are the boxes delivered Worldwide?

Postage to the UK is free, to the EU for an additional £5.65 per box, or to New Zealand and Australia for an additional £11.10 per box.

They do not currently ship to the US and Canada.

How much packaging is there?

The box I received was plastic-free! We are not sure if the rest of the boxes are too, it does not specify on the website. But the packaging is very well thought out, the boxes are easy to recycle or reuse. Tissue paper is used to keep everything together and the box is padded out with shredded paper to keep the contents safe! Both of these materials can be reused for your own gifts. I was very pleased to receive a box without plastic, and with a well thought out design.

Is the packaging recyclable?

Yes, the box can be recycled, and other than that there isn't much more packaging.

How easy are the projects to make?

The project I completed would be suitable for beginners, as it has an accompanying video tutorial which is useful if you are a total beginner. I have already had previous experience in embroidery but I think I could have taken on this project after I had got the stitches down as a beginner. To make this kit perfect it would include a small test piece of fabric that can be used to practice the stitches and perhaps a more extensive stitch guide.

Are the instructions clear?

Yes, the instructions are very clear, and you don't actually have to stick to the exact way they are written which is nice, as long as you read them through carefully you can get creative with your work! The video tutorial is handy too.

What are the finished projects like?

The finished product turned out well, the only downside is the back of the tea towel is visible and you are able to see the messy back stitches - (if you are a messy stitcher like me). Usually, if you are leaving the design in a hoop the back can be covered or if you are embroidering clothing you don't usually see the back. If you are having this teatowel or show purposes rather than practicality then it is perfectly fine though.

What other craft stash did you need to make the project?

Only scissors, a pencil and an extra bit of dark grey thread.

Who would these subs boxes be most useful for?

These craft boxes are suitable for all adults, the projects they contain are suitable to take on without prior knowledge and there isn't often many additional tools that are required. I think this is a fabulous craft subscription box for folk who like to be kept on their toes with the latest inspiration.

What’s your favourite thing about this product?

The packaging is up there for me, along with the presentation of the box, it is simple, welcoming and exciting to open!
