Have you ever wondered what those little shaped metal tools, that are often in sewing kits, actually do? They are generally stamped with a profile of a face and have a wire loop other end.

If you struggle with threading a needle then this clever piece of kit will actually make things a whole lot easier for you. In just a few simple steps you can easily thread a needle with this clever gadget in next to no time.

You will need:

  • A needle threader
  • Basic sewing kit

Step 1

Place the needle in one hand with the eye at the top. Put the needle threader in the other hand so the wire loop is visible.

Step 2

Gently insert the wire loop through the eye of the needle. Push it all the way through the eye so the wire loop is completely open.

Step 3

Place the needle and needle threader in one hand then with the other hand push the end of the thread through the wire loop. Push the thread through several centimetres.

Step 4

Fold the thread over to form a loop then hold both threads taut in between your fingers.

Step 5

Place the needle in the same hand as the thread. While keeping the thread taut, gently pull the wire loop from the needle threader out of the eye.

Step 6

Release one length of thread so the needle threader is released and you should be left with a threaded needle.
