Who doesn’t love a sweet pair of baby shoes? Just their cute, teeny size alone melts the hardest of hearts! But you really can’t beat a handmade pair for adorability. These beautiful little shoes by Val Pierce tick all our boxes for baby cute. The cotton yarn is soft but structured to cradle growing toes, while the smart straps will keep the shoes in place on squirmy feet! This free baby booties crochet pattern is a relatively quick make, but does include some fun crochet challenges such as working in the round to make an oval as well as joining pieces together with crochet stitches. The straps are attached with a simple button, and then you can decide whether to embellish them with a sweet flower or not. You will need
Rico Essentials Cotton DK (50g/120m) or alternative DK yarn, 1 ball of each:
- Yarn A Azalea (68) - in the video we have used White (8)
- Yarn B Navy (38) - in the video we have used Dark Teal (4)

Free baby booties crochet pattern

Sole (Make two for each shoe).
Using 3mm hook and Yarn A, ch10
Round 1 Work 2htr in second ch from hook, htr into next 7ch, 6htr in last ch, now work along other side of starting ch , htr in next 7ch, 2htr in last ch. Do not join. [24sts]
Round 2 2htr in each of next 2 sts, htr into each of next 7 sts, 2htr in each of next 6 sts , htr in each of next 7 sts, 2htr in each of last 2 sts. Do not join. [34 sts]
Round 3 Htr in next st, 2htr in each of next 3 sts, htr in each of next 7 sts, (2htr in next st, htr in next st) 6 times, htr in each of next 7 sts , 2htr in each of next 3 sts, ss into last st. [46 sts].
Fasten off.
Upper
Hold the two Sole pieces WS together and join Yarn B in the centre stitch at the back of the soles with a ss through the two inside loops.
Round 1 With Yarn B, ch1, dc through both inside loops of each st around the Soles to join, ss to first dc to join.
Round 2 Ch2 (does not count as st), htr into each dc around, join with a ss.
Round 3-4 Ch1, dc into each htr around, join with a ss.
Round 5 Ch2, htr into next 13 sts, (htr2tog) 10 times, htr into next 13 sts. join with a ss. [36sts]
Round 6 Ch1, dc into next 13 sts, (dc2tog) 5 times, dc into next 13 sts, join with a ss. [31sts]
Fasten off.

Straps (make one for each shoe)
Using 3mm hook and Yarn B, join to 10th dc from the centre stitch at the back of the shoe, dc into each of next 5dc, turn.
Row 1-10: Ch1 (does not count as st), dc into each st to end, turn.
Row 11: Ch1, dc into next 2 sts, ch2, miss next dc, dc into last 2 sts, turn.
Row 12: Ch1, dc into each dc and sp to end, fasten off.
Work other strap in the same way, but when you start by joining in the 10th dc, count these 10 in the opposite direction as your first shoe so that your straps are on opposite sides for each bootie.

Flower (optional - make one for each shoe)
Using 3mm hook and Yarn A, Ch6, ss in first ch to make a ring.
Round 1 Dc into ring, (ch3, dc into ring) 7 times, join with a ss into first dc. [7 x 3ch loops].
Round 2 (Dc, ch2, 2htr, ch2, dc) into each 3ch-loop, join with a ss to beg of round. Fasten off.
Flower centre
Using 3mm hook and Yarn B, Ch2, work 8dc into second ch from hook, join with a sl st.
Round 1 Ch1, dc into each st to end, join and fasten off.
To make up
Weave in ends on shoe and sole. To assemble the flower, take the centre and run a thread around the last row, add a tiny bit of stuffing to inside to pad out, draw up thread into a tight ball, and sew the centre through the middle of the flower. Use the thread to attach the flower to the strap of the shoe. Sew buttons on to correspond with buttonhole.
