What is Worldwide Quilting Day?

Worldwide Quilting Day is the day that we celebrate quilting around the world and explore the ways that it binds us together (though to us every day is quilting day!).

Your local quilt shop is at the heart of the quilting community, and we hope you show them some support not only today, but throughout the year. They are wonderful places to get great advice, buy quilting bits & bobs, take classes to learn new skills and, of course, find new quilting friends.

When is Worldwide Quilting Day?

Worldwide Quilting Day is held each year on the third Saturday in March. For 2023 it's taking place on the 18th of March.

Your free quilting project

For Worldwide Quilting Day 2023, we gave you two free projects! Check back in 2o24 where you will receive two more exclusive projects.

Keep reading to find out more about last year's free patterns: Paris by Starlight by Lynne Goldsworthy and Go for Gold pattern by Paula Steel.

About your free Paris by Starlight quilt pattern

Lynne has taken the classic Lone Star design and given it a fresh feel. Combining floral fabrics with soft beige linens gives the feel of a vintage quilt. The diamonds in the stars are also graded by value, light to dark, to add interest. This design would work equally well made up in lots of scraps.

About your free Go for Gold project

You can go Half-square Triangle crazy with Paula’s light and lovely quilt – and cute coordinating cushion – in a symphony of stunning prints. It’s a beginner-friendly design that’ll help to ignite your love affair with HSTs, through simple techniques and easy-to-follow instructions and illustrations.

Celebrate Worldwide Quilting Day with us!

Worldwide Quilting Day is a time for us quilters to come together and appreciate the craft.

If you want to join in on the celebrations next year then make sure you follow Today's Quilter and Love, Patchwork & Quilting over on Instagram.

Make sure you also tag us in your photos of your WIPs, especially if you start sewing Lynne or Paula's free project.
