How to make a snowflake mobile
You will need:
- Patterned paper
- Snowflake dies
- Snowflake punch
- 22cm wooden ring
- Adhesive gems
- Large sewing needle
Stretch twine across the centre of the wooden ring and tie in a knot on each side, leaving a length of twine (35cm) hanging at each end from the ring. Repeat three times.
Die-cut some snowflakes from patterned paper. If you don’t have a die-cutting machine (or snowflake dies), make your own paper snowflakes – old school style! Decorate the snowflakes with gems and stickers and attach them to the twine by either sticking two snowflakes back to back sandwiching the twine between them…
…or carefully threading the twine straight through the centre of the snowflake with a needle, tying a knot directly beneath it to prevent it from falling off.
Add a string of snowflakes in different shapes and sizes to the centre of the mobile, tying it where the strings that are strung across the hoop meet in the middle.
Knot some short lengths of ribbon around the wooden ring to create interest. For the hanger, tie eight lengths of twine around where the ring’s strings cross. Knot and secure in place with a blob of glue.
