You will need

Drops Muskat DK (100% cotton, 100m/50g) or alternative DK yarn, 1 ball each in:

  • Yarn A - White (shade 18)
  • Yarn B - Black (shade 17)
  • Yarn C - Medium Grey (shade 24)
  • Yarn D - Denim Blue (shade 36)
  • Yarn E - Dark Orange (shade 49)
  • Yarn F - Light Orange (shade 51)

2.5mm (UK 12, US B/1 or C/2) hook

Yarn needle

Sewing needle and invisible thread (or matching colour thread)

Toy stuffing

2 x 5mm safety eyes

Using Yarn A, make a crochet magic loop

Round 1 Ch1 (does not count as st), 6dc into the magic loop. [6dc]

Round 2 2dc in each st around. [12dc]

Round 3 (dc in next st, 2dc in next st); rep 6 times. [18dc]

Round 4 (dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st); rep 6 times. [24dc]

Round 5 (dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st); rep 6 times. [30dc]

Rounds 6-14 Dc in each st around. [30dc]

Round 15 (dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog); rep 6 times. [24dc]

Shorts

Bottom

Using Yarn D, make a crochet magic loop

Round 1 Ch1 (does not count as st), 6dc into the magic loop. [6dc]

Round 2 2dc in each st around. [12dc]

Round 3 (dc in next st, 2dc in next st); rep 6 times. [18dc]

Round 4 (dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st); rep 6 times. [24dc]

Round 5 (dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st); rep 6 times. [30dc]

Rounds 6-13 Dc in each st around.

Ss in next st and fasten off. Weave in end but leave beginning tail for assembly.

Legs (make 2)

Using Yarn D, ch15, join with ss in first ch to make a ring.

Rounds 1-7 Ch1 (does not count as st), dc in each st around, ss in first dc to join. (15dc)

Fasten off and leave a long tail.

Shirt

Using Yarn E, ch16.

Row 1 Ch1 (does not count as st), dc in next 5 sts, htr in next 5 sts, tr in next 5 sts, turn. [15sts]

Row 2 Ch3 (counts as tr), tr in next 4 sts, htr in next 5 sts, dc in next 5 sts, turn. [15sts]

Rows 3-10 Repeat rows 1 and 2.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Using length of Yarn F, randomly embroider 5-point stars on shirt.

To make up

Insert safety eyes into head and stuff. Insert a small amount of stuffing into muzzle, pin muzzle so the top is aligned to bottom 2/3 of head and sew to head using long tail left from muzzle. With invisible thread, sew nose to muzzle.

Using tail left at end of ears, sew ears to side of head, roughly in line with eyes.

Using tail, sew body to head. Take shorts bottom and use starting tail to attach to bottom of body. Use invisible thread to sew waistline of shorts bottom to body more securely.

Firmly stuff two of the legs, position on bottom of body and use tail to sew into place. Slide shorts legs over legs and sew into place using tails.

Pin shirt to top of body, leaving an opening in centre of chest of approx. 1cm. Use invisible thread to sew to both ends of shirt to the body.

Using the tail of two arms, fold the end of each arm so it is flat and sew opening together. Using invisible thread, sew each arm to side of body (you can also catch the top of your shirt with some of these stitches to fold it over, creating a collar effect.

Pin hat to head at an angle and sew into place using invisible thread.
